Summer days

The wild hyacinths are over and the bracken has grown. There is a lovely yellow haze from the buttercups in the front meadow and the wild irises have been lovely although they have been fairly transient with some warmer days recently.

A guest here at the weekend listed some of the birds he saw on site on Saturday. They included a spotted flycatcher, a Canada goose with chicks, a pair of shelducks, a pair of linnets feeding a fledgling, a buzzard and a pair of great black-backed gulls with a chick.

And today I saw a golden eagle, but that was on Loch Shiel.

The stags are looking much more red as they finally lose thee last of their winter coats, and they are enjoying grazing the meadow, although they have only been here in the evening for the last couple of days.
