Our five chalets are only one field away from the shore of Lochailort. There is a small beach and the loch is safe for bathing and boats. For children, it is a wild and natural playground well away from road traffic. The chalets all look onto the loch, each one with a slightly different aspect.
The A-frame chalets have the same layout. The accomodation comprises a double bedroom, a twin bedded room, hall, bathroom and lounge-dining-kitchen area. A balcony at the front is accessed through french doors. The lounge-dining-kitchen area is open plan, and the fitted kitchen includes electric hob and oven, microwave oven, fridge and washer-drier.
Four of the chalets have recently been upgraded and have a new kitchen, including a fridge/freezer, and an oak floor.
All pots, pans, cutlery, china and glasses are provided. We also provide all linen and towels as well as continental quilts and electric blankets. Hot water and heating are electric, and this also is included in the cost.
We do not provide internet access in the chalets - however, guests are welcome to access the house WiFi for occasional use.
There is no television reception but each chalet has a DVD player and there are a few DVD which guests may borrow.
Enjoy relaxing with a good book - there are plenty for you to borrow. Some are in the chalets, but there are LOTS in the house - just ask!
Our wonderfully soft water comes from the hill behind us.
It is safe to drink, having been filtered and treated onsite.
Highland Council test it each year. Occasionally after heavy rain it may have a little colouration from the peat, but this does not affect the drinking quality.
We're not very good at the formal eco-friendly stuff, but we do our best to tread lightly on the planet.
We make compost - and encourage guests to use the compost bins - cut down as much as we can on chemical cleaners and work hard to dry as much laundry as we can outside in the fresh air.
We have wellies in the shed so if you forget yours we should have a pair that fits.
