Roshven Farm is situated in an ideal location which allows you to relax in the peace and quiet of a small West Highland farm, while safe in the knowledge that all the facilities which you may require are close to hand. Here is a selection of information about facilities and activities in the area.

Shopping
Fort William, 31 miles away, is the main town for provisions and general shopping.  In addition there is a small village shop in Glenuig which provides basic items of groceries.

Eating Out
Bar meals are available from the two local inns in Glenuig and Lochailort, 4 miles to either side of us.

Diving
The West Coast of Scotland is gaining a reputation for its wealth of marine life.  More and more of our visitors are enquiring about diving and facilities in the area are improving. Bottles can be filled in Glenuig (4 miles away) and we can make provision for drying wet/dry suits and gear.

Boats & Boat Trips
Loch Ailort and the Sound of Arisaig are on your doorstep - ideal for sailing and sea fishing, so if you have a boat, do bring it. Boats can also be hired on Loch Shiel, ten miles from here.
If you want to venture further afield you can take a trip from Arisaig and Mallaig to the Inner Hebridean Islands, including a car ferry to the Isle of Skye.

Fishing
At Roshven, you can fish for brown trout in the burn (mountain stream) near the chalet, or from the rocks on the shores of Loch Ailort for cuddies and occasionally mackerel. One of our visitors even caught a 6lb lobster, but this does not happen very often! Of course, if you have a boat your chances are much better, but it's all good fun and it's free. We can arrange salmon and sea trout fishing in local lochs and rivers in the area but we need to know in advance.

Golf
Imagine teeing off onto the last hole with a magnificent view out over crystal clear water towards the inner Hebrides and the Isle of Skye... There are 9-hole courses at Arisaig (15 miles away) and Resipole (18 miles away), and an 18-hole course at Fort William.

West Highland Railway
The journey from Fort William to Mallaig has been named one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. In summer you can make the trip by steam train.

Nevis Range
Just outside Fort William, is one of the 5 ski-resorts in Scotland. In summer you can take a trip on the "gondola" cable car. The view from the top is magnificent - and you don't have to ski down! There is a restaurant at the top of the gondola and a small shop selling outdoor clothing and souvenirs.

There is an increasing number of indoor activities for wet days: the Sea Life Centre, a Heritage Centre and a Swimming Pool in Mallaig, Treasures of the Earth in Corpach, and three leisure centres, two swimming pools, The Nevis Activity Centre, museums, and shopping  in Fort William.  For outside activities, remember to bring waterproofs, wellies and midge cream.

There are various centres offering Pony Trekking in the area.

We have provided a pay phone at the chalets, and cots, high chair and push chair are available for hire.
